If
you thought Woodhead was too fast, too dangerous and too polluted...
just WAIT
The Highways Agency have put forward plans to
build a bypass around the villages of Mottram and Tintwistle
and widen the A628 across the National Park. This will mean:
Massive increases in traffic. Increased danger. And more pollution.
In an attempt to reduce the volumes, traffic lights are planned
for the Flouch roundabout as a route restraint measure, with
the hope that this will deter drivers! The Woodhead
Against Increased Traffic campaign
is against this proposal and think that the plan is ill-conceived.

deadline for objectionletters was the 5th May! But write to your
local councillor and MP to voice your opinion. We now hope
for a public enquiry.
