Biography
The subject matter for the video, objects and prints I make comes from my immediate surroundings.
Recently this has included a new world of gardening and the realisation that the garden centre offers delights to be loved as well as methods of killing for the things we hate, hence the pages in the Common Sense book, described by Tim as a Night of the Hunter mash up (from the 1955 film).
During the working day, I talk through graphic design jobs on skype, regularly using the pictorial emojis that it offers. So I have made the video This is how I express myself. The emojis and omnipresent icons in our digital lives are our modern hieroglyphics.
When the subject matter is not in the immediate vicinity, then geological time and space will do.
'Possible Objects' is a collaboration with Jo Addison, which arose from her solo show at Tintype Gallery in 2015, responding to Addison's sense of things. We set lots of limitations on the making of these clips, and worked remotely, knowing each other's visual language very well.
